Married and Still Free

In our convoluted world, we have come to see unity and freedom as opposites, particularly in marriage. To achieve oneness, we reason that we have to sacrifice unity. We have to “give up something”. Doug shows, using the model of the Trinity, that freedom and unity are conjoined. God – Father, Son and Spirit – are unified, they are one, and yet who can argue that anyone of them is bound. To be God, demands that God is free. Freedom and Unity belong together. The opposite of freedom, Doug says, is force. And the opposite of unity is division, not freedom.
