Fathers are not to provoke their children to wrath, but bring them up in the balance of “nurture and admonition”. Sinai set limits, boundaries. It was a mountain on fire. There one would encounter the awesome, no nonsense God. Calvary seemed to set no bounds on the blasphemous and treacherous behavior of man. There, we crucified Christ and saw the boundless love of God. Just as an effective father needs balance to raise healthy kids, we need a balanced perspective of our heavenly Father. He calls us to Mt. Zion, the place where Sinai and Calvary come together. Love and limits are blended.
